Does anyone know where to download good Australian Topographic maps for free, or at a good price?

Thanks,

John

NatMap Raster 250k series is $100-odd and great value. Just gulp & spend and you'll never regret it

You can download the 250k series from Geoscience website using the MapConnect link for free. More convenient to buy the DVD. Check out the gpsaustralia.net website as well. Mike

These maps are free to the same extent as a car on the side of the road is fre,e if you smash the window, pick the lock and drive off with it.

To the best of my knowledge and investigation, these are as free as Shonky and T4A etc.
They have been available for a few years now on a gps web site, with no hint of being copywrite. Festy's site even has an area to donate for his work.

Shonky maps are based on Geoscience Australia 250k : 1data and are licenced for personal use.

The Maps you posted llinks to are not.

I have been using Shonkymaps for years. I have a number of other Topo Maps including Garmin Topo and I still come back to Shonkymaps every time for the extra detail.

The big thing is they are FREE.

The only thing they won't do is routing and they will only work on a Garmin GPS.
