Hi All
Some freinds are lucky enough to be taking a trip ...they intend to visit Cape Le Grande (
Esperance) and have asked me for good camping spots be it caravan parks or National Parks in that area...I would like any feed back
Many thanks
Brian

There are camping grounds at both
Cape Le Grand Beach and at
Lucky Bay both in the
Cape le Grand National Park. The facilities extend to ablutions with solar hot water and NP gas BBQ's but not much further, but they are generally nice camping spots.
Just east of the National Park is the
Duke of Orleans Bay Caravan Park which has better facilities but is 20 or 30km from
Cape Le Grand. It is however adjacent to
Wharton Beach, the BEST BEACH IN THE WORLD.
Further east again is
Alexander Bay with council sites provided by the Shire of
Esperance - the facilities are more rudimentary than the national parks, from memory. Further east again, you are into the Cape Arid NP and there are several campsites there as
well.
Back towards
Esperance a few
miles from the Cape le Ground turn-off is Xanadu which I'm pretty sure has
camp spots (without facilities as I recall) as
well, almost on the beach.
They will love it!
Cheers, Paul

I always stay at Croakers caravan park when in
Esperance.
Its away from the ocean and
well sheltered which can be a blessing when the weather turns nasty.
I looked at
Lucky Bay camping area last time I was down there and made a mental note to stay longer next time. Camping fees apply but you get
toilets and bbqs.
Its only a small area ,so booking may be necessary.
Ranger lives on site.

I also looked at another spot that looked good. I think it was at the end of Orleans Bay Rd and on the eastern side, outside of the nat park.

Le Grande Beach is a great little spot, we did not want to leave. It's right on the beach but
well sheltered and has excellent facilities and easy access to the
beach drive into Esperence. We loved the
camp ground in cape Arid too, there a privately owned and operated one within the nat park with okay facilities but you can have a
camp fire.
