The road from BH to within 140km of
Tibooburra is very good. The remainder requires much caution. Many of the dips have been scoured. Where possible stay in the middle of the road as many parts of the sides have been scoured.
A short distance south of
Milparinka is
water over the road and evidence of people going around the
water. Just go straight through the
water, it looks deep, but is only about 150mm deep with a solid base. One bloke hit a rock and tore the front panel of his commodore and holed the radiator.
The first 15 Km from
Tibooburra to CC requires much caution as does a lot of the remainder of the road, although there are parts that are good. Some really bad scouring in
places, right across the road.
There is a clay pan about half way which cuts the road. Either go back 200 or so metres and take the side track, or follow the tyre tracks across the claypan around the
water.
The family pub has good meals, their cabins are $100 a double and $80 for one person.
Milparinka pub is definitely close and is supposed to reopen early 2011.
