Hi Guys
Can anyone give me any positive feedback on the TwoZone. I am thinking of getting one as my wife has taken over the Engel and I need somewhere for my beer.
Thanks

Hi there, whitey.
I have had a Two Zone for several years, on top of an Engel 40l. As far as I am concerned, they are a great invention, and
well worth buying. Even though the price was steep, and many have suggested it is too much for what is basically a plastic moulding.
I fitted a plywood panel in the bottom of the top basket, in order to create a bit more of a barrier between the zones. They suggest a layer of beer cans, but we don't give cold booze pride of place over food!! (red wine doesn't need chilling)
So we usually fill the bottom with previously frozen vacuum packed meat and prepared meals, and fill the top with butter, cheese, salads, bacon etc. and sometimes bread. We can keep the bottom frozen and the top cold (with a bit of fiddling, depending on the weather).
Very successful, and it does not make a mess of the power consumption.

Thanks tenpounder. We have plenty of room for dairy products etc in the caravan fridge, but my wife can't resist meat specials so she has taken over the beer fridge as a freezer. Would it keep
my home brew cold in the top.
Thanks

The answer is definitely yes. The biggest risk is probably in changeable weather, when it is possible to freeze the top as
well as the bottom. As you probably know, these small fridges are NOT controlled by a thermostat that trips at a given temperature with any accuracy, so you'll need to monitor the temperature 'upstairs'.

Thanks. We are more or less sold on the TwoZone. That way both of us will be happy

Red wine dosn't need chilling ? Perhaps in the Victorian high country , try drinking an unrefrigerated or unairconditioned bottle of red in the centre of QLD , even though overcast and rain every day for the last week its 34c in the shade.

Hi Whitey41,
I have a twozone on my 40lt engel and I think its a good thing. I generally use it as somewhere to store the veges/diary and use the bottom part as the fridge.
I use an esky for the beer cause there just isnt enough room ; )
Just watch the temp between the 2 areas.
If you use the bottom half as a freezer the top part can be used as a fridge.
Cheers Wilko

Thanks Vernp
Your info is much appreciated and we are still mulling things over. We are more or less convinced that we will go for the TwoZone.

Hi Whitey,
Here is a post form a while ago about my Two Zone -
Two Zone Post . In short, when use as a fridge, the two zone struggled on hot days, but a 12V fan fixed that.
Cheers

Last year I purchased a TwoZone $80.00 for the trip to
St George in September, It worked
well, a great little gadget. In January(three months later) the following year I got it out for a trip up river to Cangi for a three night stay and the sender wasn't working, the receiver was working. I didn't have the original docket, but I did have a Credit Card Statement that showed the purchase date at the store.
At first the store owner tried to me I had the batteries in wrong, and then I had put the batteries in, the wrong order. I also had taken the Batteries out when it wasn't being used.
He took my name & contact details, rang him a month after, he said he knew nothing of it. He took all my details again, have not heard a word. At the time I believe they were imported from NZ
I now have a Companion Wireless Fridge Thermometer that was half the price and works just as good.
This is just my story.
Cheers.

hi jon I think youre talking about a two zone temperature gauge not the twozone compartment that sits on top of the engel to give more storage space but thanks anyway

Whitey,
In July/Aug this year we commenced a trip along the
Oodnadatta track to
Oodnadatta (rained in for 3 days) then went to Alice for a week. We were lucky to have been able to borrow a 2zone section for our 39l Engle.
Temps varied up to low 20s and overnight quite low at times.
I set the fridge just past 2 setting, between 2 & 3, it kept the food frozen below and veges, drinks etc kept fresh/cold in the top at about 3-5 degrees.
After 3 days at
Oodnadatta and no driving, the Thumper (120 amph) was getting a bit low.
Over all for the trip I was pretty impressed and happy with the way it performed.
Lucky me there was a suitable one on the "Trader" here for $100, so I have purchased it.
A bigger fridge would not suite me. I have a 100s LC and the 39l with the 2zone on top fits nicely in the position allocated. A larger fridge would take valuable storage space.
How will it perform in hotter weather? Don't know, but it cannot be all that bad.
Hope this helps.
