"Apparantley common "
I think the guys on the
Pajero Club Forum might disagree with that statement..

Benno
I think I saw your rig going down South Road past OHalloran
Hill, and thought to myself it would not be nice to end a holiday away like that, let alone start one.
My commiserations to you and your family, but I would be pretty certain that is not a common fault in the trans.
I spoke to a few friends that used to work at MMAL, and they said the trans and boxes in the PA's were really good. Sounds like something let go internally. If the trans has been serviced when it was due, I would be speaking to whoever did the service.

Yep...that was me. Thanx for u support. I can only go by what the transmission guy says. He told me the part that went was a common part to go in trans. Could hav been worse... could hav been a car smash that brought us home. Back next year hopefully. Cheers

I understand the Challenger transmissions are pretty
well bullet proof as long as you treat them
well. Towing in overdrive falls into the category of not treating them
well, and can/does cause a component to fail.

Assuming the car has verifiable service records and you can get an opinion to support your claim, have a crack in the Small Claims Tribunal.
You only risk about $35 if you lose.
Jim.
