Hi all, Im chasing a weird throbbing/rumbling noise, sounds similar to driving on a corrugated road but not as bad, but Im on bitumen. This noise gets worse between 90 to 100kmh and then fades out again. This does happens with 2 sets of mud tyres. I know its not the tread noise as that makes a different and more like a humming noise.
Question is can Mud tyres have this type of noise zone in at these speeds and then disappear. Also does any one else have this noise?
Its just annoying because i like to sit at 95kmh on the hwy, dead smack at its noisiest.
cheers

I've had muddies on and they're noisy at any speed.
Before you go to to much trouble i'd be borrowing someone elses
wheels for a run first.

Not a Uni on either the front or rear drive shaft that's packed it in?

Just had the same problem, ended up being my front passenger wheel bearing

Sounds like a wheel bearing or UV joint to me

Glenn,
Check the other suggestions but..
It can be the wear on the tread block, the lead edge wears quicker that the trailing edge. (feathering) You can measure this is you want
A qucik what to check is to swap the tyres on the same axle over so you effectively reverse the block angle and see if that changes the resonance.
Good luck

Ta guys Ive ruled out the unis and wheel bearings thats why i was wondering if tyres can make a similar noise. yes I get the humm from tread of the mud tyre which is normal but its a deeper throbbing/rumbling noise that plays with my ears Im getting as
well.
