hello all, im looking at this troopy at the moment.
1995 HZJ75 5 speed manual diesel 4.2L It has 400 027km on the clock.
Has atfermaket turbo on it, which has been fited for 300 00km so one would think it has been done properly , the mod plate says it was a Ray huall job. i know his a
well known fitter. Also timing belt just done
• Stainless steel
water tank approx 60L
. CB radio,
out back full length drawers.
. air compressor. Overhead compartments.
Dual batt.
WARN winch
Side roller anex, Roof racks
Dual fuel tanks.
I did see it has rear AIR BAGs in the suspention,
2 spare tyres , and sunrasier rims.
2 ARB front seats.
Has some severice history,
Took it for a drive, its not blowing exsess smoke, When started cold it had wee lil puff when fired there clear from then on. The gear box was what i had my eye on, its wasnt the smoothest, no crunching, but it did get up to running temp.
Theres a lil 50c bit of rust rear guard. other that that quite clean. There has been some work done on the suspention, as in front hubs, and few other new thing i saw hanging off.
His asking $12 000 thought if get it for $10 000 woiuld be a decent buy?
Just a lil advice would go a long way THANK GUYS

I wouldnt pay more then $8k for a car with that many k's. With the turbo fitted i doubt the 1HZ will reach 500,000kms before needing a rebuild, and with only minor service history i would question if it would even make that.
It has got the goods though thats for sure, so really if you got it for $9k-$10k and spent $6k getting the engine and gearbox back up to scratch then ya have a pretty good tourer. But make sure you get everything else checked over as it gets expensive when things need replacing.

Nah no idea sorry mate. Get yourself a Gregorys workshop manual, about $40 odd, they are the best thing since sliced bread. Everything you need to know is in there.

Leo,
We have a similar troopy (94) with about the same mileage and it is still going
well. My gearbox is not really smooth but I find if I let the changes take their time then all is good. My only concern is the turbo. Personally I do not think the older 1Hz is up to the extra stress of a turbo but there are many out there which seem to be ok.
Given all the extras I think the price is ok and any reduction is a bonus. Make sure you get underneath and look for rust in the floor and bottom of the firewall especially if it has obviously done a lot of work on gravel roads.
They are great tough vehicles and will go forever if they are treated with respect.
cheers
