Just tried to add comment to an old post, but it seems not possible with archived threads.

It certainly is a beautiful spot - we did see on the day we stopped there in September last year - a '
ranger' supervising folks to move right along as it was NOT a
camp area. There were about three to four rigs set up and asked to move along.
Cheers - Mobi "
Just to add an update - we camped out there over the last 2 weeks - in the same spot it seems as the photos in the original thread depict.
VERY hot and great to be able to access the cool
water in the river.
Whoever the "Ranger" was - he had no right in moving anyone along. The area is part of
Gregory Downs station , and a courtesy phone call to the station was made by us. The husband and wife at the station were very friendly and had no problems with people
camping along the river. There are many 200L rubbish
bins and they are serviced with new liners that are changed every 2-3 days by Bourketown Shire Council vehicle and employees.
It's a bit of a bad time to visit now for a while as we encountered 3 different storms that dumped a fair bit of rain. While this in itself is welcome - travel on the black soil road chops the road badly.

Hi - we also camped there last September, great spot - and the
water was very welcome, heaps of people camped there when we were, and we all took turns to watch each others camps while driving on to
Lawn Hill etc., had no problem re being moved on - and rubbish tins were emptied regularly then too.
shame not to be able to take advantage of such a terrific campspot.
