just a quick line guys to inform you all of a small town in the heart of the Mallee called
Hopetoun that blew me away. To be honest i never had heard of the town before until i seen it on a tv show called Farmer Wants a Wife which had a
young farmer on it from
Hopetoun called Farmer Dev.
Whilst me and my family where in
Mildura we thought we would tow our caravan south and pay this little town a visit. It is a small town that sits right on the edge of
lake lascelles, which is ideal for fishing, swimming, skiing etc.... and right on the edge of the lake is a caravan
park which only charges $15 dollars a night which also has fantastic facilities. It even boasts a spectacular retreat which is called "The mallee bush retreat" which has accommodation that suits the single person, family or large groups. And trust me the accommodation is much different to the usual accommodation we normally stay in.
We only planned on staying for 1 night but this ended up being a 5 night stay for me and the family.
I strongly encourage anyone looking for a quite beautiful lake to stay at that is surrounded by fantastic friendly people to give
Hopetoun a go, its
well worth the trip.
Just as we where leaving Lake corrong just out the back of
lake lascelles was begining to fill from the recent victorian floods that have occurred.
PS we ventured up to the local pub on a friday night and the kids got a buzz in meeting farmer dev up the pub.
Enjoy your time Cheers

We drove into
Hopetoun with another couple two or three years back, parked our vans in the main drag and before we got out of our vehicles the news had spread "strangers in town towing vans".
Could not agree with you more, one of the most friendly towns we have pulled into, our only regret, we haven't been back yet, but it will happen.
Cheers
Baz
