Is there any package available yet to run an iPad, OziExplorer and linked to a Garmin Map 60 GPS unit?

I have the full version of Memory map on my iPad and don't like it much at all. It has trouble auto loading maps that are already loaded on the iPad and wants to download them again. Bring on ozi I say. Mike

Not sure what is happening there Mike. Sounds like something is wrong.
I have it and love it. The maps just appear when I zoom in or out.

It works correctly if in a 3G area but downloads the maps even though I have them all on the device. It refuses to use the maps on the device automatically. There aren't an awful lot of configuration options really. I have
the desert maps and was out near
Birdsville with no service and all it would give me was a
grey screen. Lucky I had Ozi on another device because it always works. Cheers

Mike I suggest you contact them.
There is a real GPS in the IPAD and it can run in several modes including GPS mode or "Assisted GPS" mode where the location is determined by the GPS and RF triangulation from the 3g service. I would guess that your settings are wrong for that in the IPAD.

Yes I was aware of the GPS operation and the reception and fix capabilities are way better than my iphone but wasnt really sure how the memory map was supposed to work and as I said, there aren't a real lot of config options really. Thanks for the advice I will contact them. Mike

Hi, I have been using a program bit map on the iPad. It is great and has huge potential. It loads the maps in jpg form onto the device so is not dependent on phone data. It is good now but converting explored maps takes a little time. There are clues on their website to talk you throughout the conversion. There is a new version update soon which is going to make this easier apparently. Best I have found to date easily.
Cheers

There is also TwoNav that works on Iphone and iPad
TwoNav universal application* for iPhone/iPad
The associated PC program
CompeGPS Land has the ability to import existing calibration data from OziExplorer (most but not all image formats) - so switching over is not that hard. ECW files (with correct internal calibration) can be used as is.
Cheers
