How many times have we seen posts here on EO about Beaches closed to 4WD's, NP Tracks closed to 4WD's, you can't drive here....you can't drive there, you can't fish here or there, all because a small minority enviromentalist group is concerned about a particular type of bird, plant, fish or animal, I remember seeing a report by some screwball about 4WD's on a certain beach was killing some type of sea worm, when I seen it on TV i though I wonder how many Billions of worms they missed with those big fat off road tyres... Don't get me wrong, I love the enviroment and the country I live in but "fair Crack-O-The Whip" ...come on. I also remember hearing on a Brisbane talk back radio station, a woman called in complaining about the constant noise from a Koel, (Rain Bird) she had a big problem that woman, I love to hear the call of the Koels, you know the beautiful wet season is near. Anyhow back to where I was heading with this post, It seems this BS from the minority groups exist is the US too, I had an item pointed out to me by a friend in Minnesota that likes fishing and camping and hunting , OK so here's what the little group of pests have done in North Carolina. Those people and we people just let these Govt' departments get away with it, I know there's many 4WD clubs and organisations but they're not doing anything about it that I can see, just like the Trucking industry , Govt' just don't want to listen to the very people who are affected by their stupid decisions.

[The past couple of years, the beaches of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore have been closed to all. Why? The piping plover. This little bird is killing the economy and livelihood of the residents of one of the loveliest areas on the eastern seaboard. All because of a handful of environmentalists — eco-terrorists — who have used pseudo-science to determine that the birds are more important than the people who also inhabit the area.]

These 2 Youtubes shows just how it affects peoples lives and lookout...it's started here too.

Pandering to minority groups by officialdom....

I hate it.

Here in Mandurah we have a new entry road system opening this week associated with the new freeway extension.

They, and various bridges, have been given unpronouncable, interminably long, indiginous names that, I'm sure, the majority of residents don't want.

I've never seen so many hyphens in one word.

If a politician stood up and said: we will not pander to minority groups, he'd be overwhelmed with votes.

I'm glad I ain't too scared to be lazy

G/Day G B

I agree, and it's only going to get worse, just look at how the country is being run with a minority deciding on every Australians future, here in QLD we are getting shafted in all directions by our Boofhead Govt, wanting to sell off all the States Assets and now they want to ban fishing in different areas, we have places at the top end of Fraser Island that has a seasonal closure for Tailor Fishing which is good, but these total bans are crap, oh well i'm my mid 60s and have seen and enjoyed the good times and I have concerns for my Grand Kids who will have their lives stuffed up by the minority do gooders.

Is a big problem that for the current government to get into power they have to get into bed with the greens. They do deals with the greens to keep them happy and we are the one who end up taking it up the backside so they can stay in power. Things will be even worse this time around.

It is getting rediculous what they get away with these days. A few years ago we used to water ski on a lake, had done for years. One day the greenies found a helmeted honey eater (an endangered bird) on the lake (we knew it was there for years) so they decided they had better ban all boats and motorized water activities on the lake. Within 6 months the helmeted honey eater disappeared. Turns out the boats were stiring up the insects on the lake which the birds were eating. No more boats---no more helmeted honey eater.
They never found out where the birds went or if they just died off. What a joke.
This sorted of thing happens all the time. Someone with no idea and no practicle sense makes decisions on things they don't really know what they are talking about. Talk about educated idioits.

With a bit of luck all the Piping Halfwits will become extinct before the threatened animals and plants do....but I doubt it :)
