Will watch this with interest as I am in C'town too with a 12 year old son. Not sure if I could get away just yet though but have itchy feet.

My son loves a van park in W'gong called Surf Leisure Resort (not really for self sufficient types though) He loves it for its indoor heated 25 metres pool, spas, sauna, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, putt putt golf and beach and 25 kms of bike track on its doorstep. Not what i think you are looking for but good if you want to sit back and do nothing while he is out doing all the activities - cheers

Hi PradOz,

Thanks for the idea it is great but we did the caravan par thing last year which he did enjoy but wanted to do different this time. We will consider it though for the future, many thanks, regards

Hi Skelly

My wife and myself are heading down to Wollondilly River Station on the Wombeyan Caves Road, about 50~60k's west of Mittagong. Looks nice, got 4wd tracks through the property, the Wombeyan Caves just down the road, the Wollondilly river runs through the property for fresh water fishing. Looks nice to us.

Cheers, Dave

Hi Bushwackers,

Thanks for the great idea, I have been there previously but over ten years ago and did actually think about it but was unsure if still open and did not follow up. I think this will be the good for us both and not too far away, many thanks,

What about Bendeela, near Hampton Bridge near Nowra. A few of us Exploroz people had a weekend down there a few months ago. There is a river with hire canoes, plenty of open areas and kangaroos and wombats a plenty.. good place for kids to ride their bikes.... depends what you want i guess. Also free camping there. regards Michael

G'day,

If your into fishing, my son and I like to camp at Lake Lyall, new Lithgow. It's not a bad drive up there on a Friday night or early Saturday morning. We go as often as we can, and we are also located in Mount Annan.

Hi Capt,
Thanks for your great location idea, before Matt was born I used to go camping there and around the back of the lake past the power lines we used to get yabbies at night in the creek
