Living in the tropics I am tossing around the idea of using a white reflective paint on a Toyota Coaster motor home I bought earlier this year. The claims for the product are for a significant decrease in heat radiation in the interior beneath a painted surface.
There is a product called Solacoat which is about $82 for 4 litres. A bit dearer than general quality paints so the question is it worth it? Anyone used this kind of product on a motor home or caravan?
Be pleased to hear any thoughts on the matter. Thanks

Hi Harryopal,
here is a link to another similar product. Apparently it's added to the paint you want to use, I thought it may give you something to compare with. I know nothing about either product , I just see the add on a billboard at the side of the highway near Maryborough Qld everytime I go to Brisbane.

Cheers

We use it in industrial applications. "Ceramitec" - it also has a website.

Yes you'll get good benefits. White is obviously the best colour.

Being acryilic gloss the final look of your motorhome isn't going to be like duco, but you'll learn to love it because of the benefits.

Sounds awfully cheap for 4 litres Harry. I have used Theromshield to good effect on some acrylic roof hatches. When I originally enquired I was given information comparing things like roofs, air conditioning ducts and the like, protected and unprotected.

Thank you all for the posts. It sounds promising. It would be good to hear from someone who has actually used this kind of product on a motorhome.

I used this one

on my metal unlined patio roof. It decreased the summer temperature of the underside of the roof by more than 30degrees as measured with a non contact infrared thermometer.

There's two kinds of paint being mentioned here. Solar reflective is a very thin membrane using microscopic ceramic beads. The other is a high build insulating paint. Both are good - just different products. Hope this helps the o.p.
