hello there
i have just got a 96 troopy only thing is its only got the 3 seats at the front. my thinking is getting the back seats from a wreckers some where and putting them in.
but i have been told that some times its not that simple and it can be hard to get them to pass road worthy?
has any one done this before and care to shed some light on the subject for me

thanks in advance
Matt

Check the compliance plate to see the seating capacity - it may have had seats when complianced and had them removed later. If the plate has the higher capacity then you can put the original seats back in - if not you will have to get the seats engineered.

Depending where you live and how many seats you fit will also influence rego cost and here in NSW if you go up to the full eleven seats you will need twice yearly over the RTA pit inspections.
Fitting the rear seats to a 3 door troopy can be pretty expensive as none of the original mou8nting points for seats and belts are fitted to a 3 seater. if it was originally sold as a 11 seater/bus or a six seater with the forward facing rear seat then you can just bolt the correct seats in and change it with registering authorities.
If not originally fitted then full engineering for aftermarket seats has to be done.

Hi Matt ,
have a look in the back and see if there are any bolt holes for the seats and belts as the seats may have been removed at some stage, if there is just bolt the another set in.
Depending on what state your in you mave have to check your reg papers and get the seating capacity altered.
If it has no seat mount and belt holes everything will have to be certified by an engineer.
cheers

Matt,
I had to have mine engineered and certified.

I built the base for the seats and installed the seats and belts on my Troopy.
It was a plated 3 seater and I had to drill and reinforce all the anchor points.

Under the floor they were 150mm long 10mm thick and shaped to fit the grooves under the floor, I then taped the bolt holes, placing the reinforcing in the pillars was done by welding a stick onto the plate and feeding it up the pillar between the windows. All bolts were grade 8.8

I am at work at the moment and arn't logged in as a member but if you leave an email address in this thread, I will send some photo's and more info when I get home in about a week +.

Have a good one.
