Mounted panels on Van Roof

About to mount the panels on the van roof ...when getting the stuff ready in my mind that I would mount the brackets onto some 6mm nylon I have, to allow for ventilation ...oops thinking on, is it a good thing, will the air pressure while mobile build up and maybe damage panels themselves.
So what is the general rule hard down or as I thought I would do.

Thank you Kevin

Hi Kevin,

By panels I presume you mean solar. From my point a view ventialtion is a good thing. Years ago a mate siliconed his panel;s onto the roof, got condetion under neath and then corrosion of wires in terminal box. Also putting them on nylon blocks with allw fr abit of flex as wqell, another good thing.

cheers

Kevin,

Suggest allow for a bit of air circulation underneath to allow cooling. (The panels performance drops off at high temperatures.) I can't see pressure buildup being an issue unless you create some kind of air scoop at the front. There'll be a small pressure deficit on top due to air flow, but nothing worse than naturally occuring wind could generate.

Cheers

Mainey has a very nice panel mount set up.

you can search any solar thread and find him.

Click on his profile, he has ( or had) some pics there.
