FWIW I finally got around to finishing my WA trip report including the ExporOz Anne Beadell Highway trip and the gathering at Wiluna.

Richard

That's not a 'report', it's a book!

Good read though, thanks. I( didn't hear about the coppers in Wiluna checking lights. I must have been OK as I didn't have them on my back)

Great stuff Richard.

In notice you mention having a leaking injector pipe...Just wondering if the pipes are from the factory or have you changed them at 150k interval???

The reason I ask is that mine are due but I have been warned against it because often leaking can occur when replaced.

cheers

Andrew,

Interesting point. I hadn't seen that reported anywhere.
They were replaced at 150K and vehicle now has 200K on the clock.
They were tightened up when I returned and now seem OK.
I guess the 3,000KM of fairly bad corrugations on the Anne Beadell and Canning gives anything mechanical a very hard time. Not sure I could blame the mechanic.
The cracked transfer case filler pipe was repaired at no cost to me though. :)

when I took mine in at 150K the Toyota service mob said they no longer deem it necessary to replace the lines at 150K.

As a marine engineer, I cant say I have come across an engine yet that has a recommended interval for replacing injector lines for no reason?

Hey Richard, what a great read that was.
Brought back memories of when we worked in Newman in the mid 70s, spent 3 years there exploring all the gorges etc and finding our own tracks in (no gps those days)
Planning on revisiting mid next year to see the changes in the place ( for better or worse) Our eldest son was born in Newman 1976 and wants to come with us.
Once again thanks for a great read
Cheers Ray (Townsville)
