Hi,
Iam wondering if anyone knows of an air conditioning unit that will run off gas? I am travelling up the QLD coast over the summer period with a 2yr old and would like to have some way of cooling the tent during his day time sleeps. We are travelling in a 20 seater bus so maybe the way to go would be to have him sleep in the bus and run a cooling unit off the second battery????
Any help/ideas/suggestions would be much appreciated
Kacey

hi, if you can't have him in any airconditioning then the next best thing is a small fan blowing directly on to him, if it was inland and you have no humidity then a
water cooler is the lowest power user .... airconditioning will use lots of power and is really out of the question unless you have a lot of money for
inverters or 12v units or maybe a gen set but again what kind of money do you want to spend on bubs ????

i may add we lived up in the Kimberlys for a while with a 12M old bubs and we only had power for 8 h a day and had 12v for the "off" times, we used the little 12v computer fans on the ends of the beds and it was fine, blowing right on your face and over your body and we did ok, they use little power and are very quite when running ............. in the "wet season" you MUST have some form of air flow to keep cool, you dont need air cond if you can get air flow......

I think that the only cooling unit you could run off the second battery would be a fan. We have used a fan successfully for kid naps in quite high temperatures. (Er; kid's sleeps i mean!)
Cheers,
Tom.

There is a variable speed fan available now that only draws .4 amp at its maximum speed, it is also programmable for auto turn off.
It sells for around $189.00 & is designed for marine use.

dont mean to offend ...but he will be alright with out...toughen him up! (assumes no medical reason why he needs a conditioned environment)

Thanks i think i will go with the fan and see what happens....
Iam
well aware that he doesn't NEED aircon to sleep and i grew up travelling in a tent that never had anything more than to open the main door BUT as a single mother travelling alone i feel that the more comfortable he is to sleep = longer time sleeping = happy bub and happy mum. I do not want to spend 3mths with a overtired 2yr old!!!
