I have telstra next G mobile internet. Does anyone know if and how I can sent and receive faxes while mobile. I have looked at Pamfax but to buy a an inward fax number from there costs a fair bit. Cheers.

Winfax uses a phone line. The fax data travels along the line modem to modem so you would be bypassing the 3G and using a mobile as an old dialup style connection. That doesn't solve the incoming problem either. For that you would need to know when the fax was coming to set everything up and wait for it. Not sure the mobile would be capable and if it's a Telstra stick then definately not. The email to fax gateway option over Internet using 3G is far easier. Mike

i would look at scanning the doc to PDF and email and do the same in return, you then open attachment and view "fax" ......
Check that out first as "remote" faxes are not possible but via email it is very simple

Mike,

Not as straightforward as a fax, but we simply email a .jpg image when there's a need to send/receive a copy of a paper document. A digital camera is a very acceptable scanner and readily available when travelling. Most places will accept the image in lieu of a fax and it's easily printed by the recipient.

Doesn't directly answer your question, but might offer an alternative.

Cheers

Pamfax is only $8 a month for the pro version. That's cheaper than a real line by a long way. Why do you say it costs a fair bit? Look at Ozefax they are Australian based and around $7 a month for an incoming number. Mike
