Freind of mine a while back had his winch stolen while at work and as you can amagine was a little upset. Now my mate is one of those ingenios types, and to fix the problem of this ever happining again?, he come up with the idea of connecting the winch bolts into the alarm system. So off to the local car alarm shop where 2 extra points were addad to the after market alarm (8 max). the points are situated on the very end of the bolt, so any unwinding of the bolt will activate the alarm. The alarm will activate again even if the theif comes back after a alarm has reset (unwind the bolt a bit more and the alarm activates again) simple but effective.

Hope this helps

Mik

In light of my post this is very timely. I will certainly add it to my 'wish list' when I decide on what alarm system I get...tnx

600watt 240volt invertor connected to the frame of the winch, which is insulated from the bullbar.... Probably 6-times greater whammo than an electric fence.... Unfortunately it is not as potent as sticking a pair of scissors into a powerpoint but it is enough to curl your fingers and lift the heart rate to about 190bpm.........

Thats fantastic!!!!!!!. Wish my tradesman trailer had that before the "insert expletive here" bolt cut the chains -plural- and brush cut my shrubs to steel it from my driveway.
I wonder what the Local Constabulary would think of fitting a "Man Trap" to your vehicle though?

The only way the "LAW" will know about a "Man Trap" is if the "Man" tells them that he got a death defying boot of electricity whilst he was trying to "Boost" a winch from the front of someones 4x4.........It wouldnt be a danger to anyone who is doing the right thing...
