The family and I have just returned from a 10 day adventure to Uluru, and I mean adventure. I was crook the first 3 days, then it was my 19mth olds turn, the camper tent trailer we hired leaked every time it rained, the stretchers for the 6&4 year old were to big. We took food intending to cook and then ate out almost every night, only to get home and the wife gets crook.
Anyway as we were heading home with the realisation that we need something bigger, my mind wondered to a camper trailer I had seen a number of years ago, it was imported and about the same size as a Jayco Eagle off road. From memory the original had a shower in side, speakers out side, the extend able bed at the front was larger than the rear and it extended over a storage area that you could park a quad bike on when packed up. It was grey in colour and I remember that it was imported as the door was on the drivers side. I have seen them once since and they had moved the door the the correct side.
Can any one help as the only thing there is a lot of in Darwin is rain, Croc's and fishing gear.

I think this is who you are looking: Getabout Campers

Getabout

http://www.getaboutcampers.com.au/

I went to a camping and caravan show only to look at this model ( cash in back pocket) as it ticked all the boxes, from a web search anyway. I was extremely disappointed with the build quality for the price, doors didn't quite fit, poor fitting canvas, you name it and this was their show model! I queried with the sales man and he said that they were the agent and if someone wants one they will sell them but he agreed that they were not fantastic for the price.

Instead of an imported model I am guessing you could get a custom build for the same price.

My neighbour has one of these Getabout campers.

Top of the line offroad unit, very happy with the concept but equally disappointed in the quality of workmanship, fit and finish.

When I first saw it in his back yard it sure looked impressive (was opened up), but from the closeup inspection I certainly agreed with his criticism.

He actually bought it without inspection which he agreed was the mistake.

I currently look for C/T and had a look at the Getabout. I have done some research and therefore would not touch that brand. (looks good but build quality is a real issue)
I have just about made up my mind and looking at a 2nd hand Jayco offroad.
