Hi forumites,
Just wondering what is the maximum tyre size that will fit under the back of a 100 series Land cruiser (07) on a standard rim, don't really want to fit a spare wheel carrier but would like to increase the tyre size.

Martyn,
Biggest we have had under the rear is 305/70/16, which is quite a big tyre and we had any accidents.
Having said that a friend who had 265/70/16, which i think is the standard size wrecked a brand new tyre on a rock, soooo if you want a bigger tyre, get them and take your chances.
Cheers
Baz

Martyn,
I fitted a 235/85 x16 as the spare on our 80 series and it is up out of harms way. It also has the same rolling diameter as the 265/75x16. Sure , all wheels are suppoesed to be the same size but as a spare who cares.
Mine spare has been tucked away under the back for 12 years(not same tyre) without any damage even over some rough tracks. I have lifted the car 70 mm but when loaded it settles back down.
Just a different answer to your problem.
Ian

My understanding is that it varies in different states.
Remember that if you want to sell it at a later stage and the tyres are too big for a buyer in a different state, they will not be able to get it passed for registration.
This is not just the width but also relates to rolling circumference. For example 285 wide Cooper Descoverer ST on a landcruiser in legal in NSW but not in Queensland.

315 or 35 inch is the largest that will go underneath, but you then have a sand plough
