Hi Ron,
We just purchased a new set of tyres for our Jeep Wrangler - size 265/70/R16. Did ALOT of research looking for a cost effective tyre with performance. Settled with Maxxis AT 771 at $199 a tyre plus a wheel balance - all up set me back just over 1k for all 5 tyres. I think Maxxis also do a road tyre which may even be cheaper. They get a pretty good write up on some of the 4X4 forums for the price. As a comparison the BFG AT's were 370 a tyre.
Cheers, Matt

RonMc,
March of this year, for my 2007 Navara I purchased a set of Bridgestone DD/Ats 694s they are the 10ply rating ones.
I travelled the
Great Central Road,
Canning Stock Route and the Tanami then towed our 2500+kg caravan around for another 12,000ks.
Not a puncture or a nick out of them and I expect to get another 2 blacktop trips out of them before replacement.
Obviously I'm very satisfied with them.
They are 265/75/R16 and were $285 each - Coopers and BFGs at the time were $330+
Jeff.

just be a bit careful with maxxis, most of there tyres are directional which means rotate front to back only on the same side! just my 2 bobs worth......

Hi RonMC, I have the Bridgestone Desert Deulers D694 tyres on and find them very good. Much better than the Maxxis, which I used to have. The Maxxis give good wear but the compound is too hard and they let go a bit to easily for me.
Wrote my previous cruiser off and I think it was partially due to the hard compound on the Maxxis 750 Bravo radials. They just dont hold on on the dirt.
Talking to my diesel injector guy last week and he said he was running Maxxis 750 Bravo radials when he wrote his cruiser off as
well.
Just my experience and my opinion.
Cheers, Bruce

Ron, I also agree with Jeffie. They are dearer than the Maxxis but you get what you pay for as so many on these pages keep saying. It's also a true statement when it comes to tyres.

Definitely agree with Price vs Quality statement. At nearly double the price the BFG's were just out of the question for me. Will post again on the performance of my Maxxis 771's when I give em a bit of a workover.
