Check out your driving habbits.
That kind of economy is a bit heavy, and it sounds like you have unburnt fuel in your exhaust. You may also have an overfueling problem.
Get your boost checked, 17 - 18 psi max, but you should be made aware that the 3.0lt models have a reputation of boosting up to 30 psi, and that is dangerous.
Just get it tuned on a Dyno, by a reputable firm, an there are plenty about.
Get your injectors changed, and you should get about 9km/lt
Do not do this and your economy will stay the same.
But do not believe what I tell you, become a member of the the Patrol

hi pepper
have noted that you have gone from a manual to an - auto--
this could have a bearing on the increase in consumption
as you can resist changes in the manual where the auto's can have a habbit of hunting up and down where you would just leave the manual to cruise on over hills etc without a change down
but like said the patrol
forum is your best bet
cheers

I don't think you are compaing apples with apples pepper2 - I believe that these are two different engines. While both are basically built on the 3 ltr block that is about where the similarities end. If my recollection is right (and I could be very wrong here) the 2002 engine is direction injection whereas you newer 2007 donk is common rail. Also you are running an auto transmission vice a manual and this will always result in higher consumption. I have read on the Patrol4x4
forum that some folks are not at all too happy with the fuel consumption of their crdi patrols.
Re the black exhaust - ignore that if you are not making smoke then this is normal. I think the colours we use to try and achieve in the past with tuning our EH holdens etc are no longer valid in these days of injection systems and complex emission control systems.

Peppar we own a man and a auto Jack and the diff in economy is about 2k per litre, so could just be the auto.
