Looking to purchase a hand held GPS running WCE suitable for OziExplorer....there seems to be a number of cheaper end devices on the market.......which is fine by me as this is only for a back up and fiddle with out of the vehicle as I have a serious system in the vehicle and no intention of using it as a city navigator
who has experience on using which brands?
thanks

I have a
Kogan GPS. This has seen trips from the NSW coast to
Oodnadatta etc as
well as up to
Cape York and through the Alpine regions.
I have managed to get OziExplorer into it and works fine along with the supplied navigation program. I have used both very successfully.
During the trip to
Cape York I was able to find and travel tracks, that are not so obvious, with Oziexplorer/HEMA and locate various caravan parks with the other maps.
The cost is what attracted me and I have not been disappointed at all. My one is the 4.3 inch version. Kogan have a copy of the way to add Ozi that I helped put together.
Enjoy

I have a similar set up with Ozi (and it also works fine, runs off an SD card) but a different type of car GPS (not the Kogan). The only issue is the battery life of the car gps when you want to use it away from the car.
I have an android phone and I am waiting for the android version of Ozi (due out late this yr according to the web site) and will then try this for away from the car GPS work running Ozi.

Bought one of
these recently, runs IGO8 as
well as OziCE on a Micro SD card. Also have a reverse camera hooked up to it, works OK.
I also use full Oziexplorer on the laptop to do planning and store all my maps (limited map storage on the SD card).
Maps for Australia for the IGO8 can be found on the net, the unit came preloaded with European road maps.
Switching between IGO8 and OziCE is a simple matter of changing a file path, literally a 5 second job.
For $100 and 5 days in the mail from China I'm happy with it.
