I have a set of Dunlop Grantreks 275/70/16 which I would like to fit on my hilux dual cab which currenltly have the standard 16" split rims. I would like to buy a set of rims that may enable me to fit the Dunlop Grantreks. Would it be legal even if I obtained the appropriate sized rims? Or would it fit within the wheel arch compartment? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks..

The tyres will fit easily, but if you value the safety of yourself and your family, I would never put a tyre on my car that had the Dunlop on it.

Dunlop Grandtreks are one of the best AT tyres out there.
But more to the point, im not sure if that size tyre will fit without a good lift. Depending on what model you have though.

I agree with you 3GoBush, I wouldn't risk them either. At the moment I don't think there is a better A/T tyre than BFG A/T KO but we all have our own opinion. They may ride a bit harder than others but I have had but 1 puncture in 12 years or about 170k kms and that's good enough for me! I just soften the Rancho shocks and all is soft again.

Hehehe - 9 responses above and nobody has even tried to answer your question - unfortunately theres a lot of that on this
forum.
The 16x7 rims from a 1997-2002 Prado will fit your Hilux perfectly and take those tyres. Bad news is that everyone else likes those rims, so they are hard to find secondhand. Toyota were selling them out over the past 12 months - about $130 each, might be worth a try.
As far as flares go, you'd be lucky to get by without flares on 275's, but the Prado rims will go close.
The aftermarket steel white spoke rims usually are slightly different offset and will stick out an extra 10mm or so.

You do know that the radius increase of 28.5mm over standard will make them illegal in Qld?
