I have a 2008 Discovery 3 and after having to change a tyre, I noticed that that Land Rover supplied jack is bent and will not wind completely down. I understand that replacing this bit of rubbish with a bottle jack maybe the perfect solution. Has anyone else had the same problem, if so did you replace with a bottle jack and if so what make model did you purchase. John

John,
Get a Disco 2-stage bottle jack, possibly the earlier models which were more solid iirc, and you will have no problems. They can be hard to acquire depending on where you are, however they have the ability to get under your vehicle and raise it some height. Not cheap though....
British Off Road at Forest Glen are helpful for one, moreso if you own a LR :)

I kept the Disco type hydraulic jack supplied with a new Defender and junked the Tojo screw type when I bought a Prado.
The Tojo jack had a very small locating surface which didn't look to safe to me.
Check the wreckers as they may have one for you.

When we had our Rangie, it came with the standard Landrover hydraulic bottle jack. Just like everything else on the Rangie, it did not work so we used the screw type jack from our Troopy - which did work.

There's a thread on PradoPoint showing the Tojo original jacks which have collapsed due to the body splitting.
I think I'll stick to the hydraulic jack I got with my Defender which has at least got a decent locating surface and is so much easier to operate.
