Engel not working

Hey everyone. Just acquired an Engel portable fridge MT-30D and when connected to power the power light on top comes on but the motor (Compressor) does not cut in. I have taken the cover off and there is a click from the area near the transformer but thats the extent of the action? Any suggestions of what to try next in order to isolate the problem... (power) (compressor) (relay) any help will do really... Cheers, hope to hear from someone soon.

Regards.

The usual culprit in this is more than likely the lead. Try a new one especially the 12 volt one. If you have tried the fridge on 240 & 12 volt & still a drama take it to Engel or a service rep.

A simple test to determine whether the problem is with power supply or compressor, would be to check for voltage at the compressor itself (w/- fridge switched on, of course;-))...

The compressor runs on about 20 Volts AC (NOT DC), so you will need to set your multimeter accordingly...

If appropriate voltage is reaching the compressor (but she still no go) this would indicate a fault here (dead compressor ??)...

Conversely, no voltage at the compressor would indicate a problem somewhere in the power supply, or maybe the thermostat...
The fact that the power indicator light is coming on, would suggest that the lead itself is probably OK (but check it anyway;-))...

I recently replaced the cooling unit in my MRFT-530B after more than 32 years of faithful service.. compressor drawing current, but "no go"... new cooling unit, and my ol' fridge is new again ;-))

Good luck with it ....

I had a similar problem running my Waeco from vehicle cig lighter but when I had the 2nd battery installed and heavier wiring the fridge has worked a treat.
Many vehicles wiring is not heavy enough to run the fridge and as such the error light on the Waeco starts flashing and the fridge stops working
