We have just had a deep cell battery set up in our van which runs lights but how do I set up to run a tv?
We have a small lcd tv (with a AC adapter 240v input; 12v output).
What do I need to purchase to be able to run this tv without 240v power?
Thanking you for your helpful replies. ;-)

Hi Jazzy

I'm not the technical one, but my husband removed the 240 bit and wired ours direct to battery with an in line fuse and extra switch. We had the auto sparky set up external terminals outside the battery box as we had so many different wires to the batteries. This has simplified the wiring.

I don't know how you are charging your battery to know if it will give you enough power for lights and television. We have four solar panels and four batteries so power is not a worry.

When travelling we never get time to watch television - more to see in the big picture window (windscreen) and absorb the day's travels, write up my diary and download the photos come evening. The I think about where we are going the next day. Lovely to be remote from all the bad news of the world. We even missed an entire state election campaign and election one year.

Jazzy,

You need a 12V Adaptor such as this one

Cheers,

Most of these Tv s come with a connection port that the adaptor as mentioned by Cruiser will fit straight into & they have an inbuilt fuse.

If your Van does not have the 12V Ciggy lighter outlet, you can buy them at most automotive places & they are easy to install yourself. Most come with an inbuilt fuse as well.

Mind you I agree with Motherhen & reckon they are a good thing to leave at home!! But............. SWMBI likes to have a look at Telly now & then. Good luck with it & happy travelling.

I would never use one of those cigarette lighter adaptors. Get yourself a decent plug like an Anderson
