Hi all
Am in the final stages of modifyng my cub drifta 6 (1984 model) and I need to move the hand winch that lifts the roof.
Looking at it and knowing I can buy a 2000lb winch for $80 similar to this:

what would be the cons to using it to lift the lid.
Pros: 1. can mount it out of the way and dont need room to swing the handle
2. lazy :-)
Cons: 1. Need to wire it to the van battery so uses some power to put up
2. What do I do if it stops working?
3. Probably should wire in a limit switch to ensure that nobody winds it up too far
What do you think??? Am I dreaming?
Thanks in advance
Bob

Hi Bob,
I have a similar set-up and find it not to difficult to operate. I Just think it would be an unnecessary complication. IMHO

A guy I worked with fitted an electric winch to his van,
He said it worked great apart from the one time he was setting up next to his mate and was having the
unofficial setup race.
He stood back laughing as his van was happily winding itself up one of the internal cables snapped.
Fairly sure he used an electric boat winch.
