Anne Beadell H'way - info needed please

Road Conditions indicates:
WA side - Rainfall may have closed this road any current info appreciated Updated: 17/10/2010 9:48:38 PM
and
SA side - This part of the Highway has some washouts and short stretches of bad corrugations.Updated: 19/10/2010 10:38:54 PM

So......am looking for any info on track conditions from anyone who has done the run very recently.
Is there anyone out there who can shed some light on this for me?
I am having 2nd thoughts about doing the Anne Beadell as it does seem that the eastern end might be a bit of an issue. Loose plans would have me at the western end around the 28th heading east - if I go. Can always change plans because nothing is set in concrete - except the time period for my permits.

The cental bits have been getting some more rains and migratory water over the past week (or more) in places; plus there have been recent changes to some road conditions etc; and I thought I noticed on the news/weather the other day that some rain fell around around Coober Pedy about the 14th from memory - and some road bits out of CP are closed according to latest EO road conditions.

Thanks in advance for any helpful info.

Cheers

Graham

Was on the WA side of the border of the Anne Beadell last week. overall pretty good few corrugations but found sitting on 60 to 70 ks smoothed them out. just watch out for people coming from other direction, saw one group absolutely flying, came around corner sideways and nearly cleaned up one of our group, most of time we sat on 40ks. believe the SA side is very badly corrugated.
starting to warm up but the early rains have meant an absolute bumper season for wildflowers. take the time to appreciate it.
traveller numbers have dropped off so will have plenty of space for youselves.
Ilkulka roadhouse is worth the stop but had started to close at lunchtime check on that if you want fuel.

In a nut shell this is what you can expect and is a great trip.

Laverton to past Yamarna is a wide and very well maintained road.
From there to Neale Junction minor corrugations.
Neale Junction to Ilkurlka a super highway.
From Ilkurlka on the corrugations get worse with the best ones from Emu through to Mable Creek.

Keep your speed down and yours tyre right down (I ran 18spi front and 20 psi rear) and you will have an enjoyable drive. We did it in 7 days but looking back now should have extended it by a couple of extra days.

Below are a few picture of the actual highway in various locations.

Ask any person that has driven it before and would they do it again......YES at the drop of a hat as it has some of the best scenery.

Cheers

Graham

Mate has just got back from the Simpson Dersrt Bike Race (push bikes that is)
Moved to the Anne Beadell this year, due to flooding..

His report was it was pretty rough on the S.A side to Anne's Corner, from Cooper Pedy.
