The 4X4 Action magazine did a comprehensive test of fuel managemnt chips in their mag three issues back. While the majority were for diesel, they did test a petrol chip as
well. You should be able to find the results on their website.
Cheers Mick

The Hat,
I have a Unichip on my 100, 4.7 V8, I purchased my 100 new in 2004, I had the dealer put my 100 on LPG prior to purchase. (LPG Mixer system).
As I was not getting the power I expected from the LPG, I was told of the "extra" power and torque that I would get but having a Unichip installed would be between 10 and 15%.
The truth is you get very little increase in power from a chip on the V8.
If you look at the chart in 4WD Action you can see that you will get maybe 1-3% improvement.. Although 6-8% is quite possible.
Last year I changed to injected LPG and as this uses its own computer linked to the 100 ECU.
I now have similar power (if not better) on LPG to what I get on petrol.
The bonus part was that I did get an increase in power on petrol as it was detuned for the old mixer LPG system.
I believe that since I have a decent mechanic servicing the 100 I have better performance that I had originally, so the chip seems irrelevant.
I don't have the torque figures unfortunately only kw. Figures are at the
wheels.

I believe that the money is better spent on a 3" exhaust straight through system and extractors. Better flexibility and better breathing. I wish I had this done originally instead of the chip.
Please note that the company that installed my chip no longer exists so the telephone numbers are irrelevant.

Thanks Tony for all that info & time you put in. The exhaust system makes a far better option. Sorry it took so long to reply
