Good evening all,
I've searched the internet for a suitable canopy for my 79 series ute. There are a few manufacturers out there but I can't decide who to opt for!
Choices are Canvas City, Maylands Canvas Works and a few others.
In general with such canopies are they easy to remove?
Any recommendations?? I may even opt for PVC but I am a fan of canvas.
cheers
Matthew

consider getting the roof made out of metal or similar, my old PVC canopy used to sag alot in the roof when it got older, and then hold alot of
water up there. the older it got, the more it sagged and the more
water it held...lol.
just my 2 cents though...lol

Hi
Much better going for a hard top canopy with split sides in a ripstop material.
If you are going to sleep inside also look at mozzie screening Any good motor trimmer should be able to give you a few options and point you in the right direction as to someone to construct the framework. Most of these canopies are a bolt on affair and are easily removed

We had a bolt-on metal frame made, with the canvas going over the top. It has worked
well for many years, but as Tezza suggests a hard top might be better, as this would enable various items to be carried on the top (eg a solar panel, etc). You can't do this with our arrangement without putting a hole in the canvas.
Cheers, John

Hi Mat,
let us know how you go with the canvas canopy. We are coming down to
Perth around Chrissy and will look at getting a canopy on the Hilux then.
If your canvas guy does a good job, you could save us from running around trying to find someone good.

Thanks for the replies Gents.
I hadn't thought about a hard top roof. Common sense really for durability,
water run off and many others.
Dan - at this stage I'm only toying with the idea as for one I'm off to England for Xmas and secondly after our recent caravan park/
camping trip my girl thought it be a good idea. But I can fish around for quotes if need be Dan.
The bolt on arrangement is appealing because roo shooting with a canopy could be annoying.
Again thanking you for your advice
Matthew
