The parkweb page shows lots of road closures for the beaches on the Vic side of the Murray (last updated 1-Sep)

We haven't managed to get onto the Parks office at Nathalia to see if any of the roads have opened yet. Does anyone have any more info on what is open?
We want to go
camping on the upcoming Melb cup long weekend near Carters Beach but not on Carters beach (as it's likely to be very busy).

Re Carters Beach, we were
camping on the sand at Carters Beach 2 weeks ago, since then due to increased
water flow from Yarrawonga weir, river level rose, causing campers to move to higher ground under trees .Due to river flooding in september, pit
toilets were closed as they were full with
water and as of yesterday 24/10/10,had not been pumped out. Weekend gone by,2 large groups of males camped on the rivers edge among the trees, unable to access
toilets, defeacated where they found fit.Another mixed group camped at western end of beach and rode a trail bike among other campers until until 1 am.This area seems to attract many irresponsible campers with no regard for others. The
water level has receded somewhat over the last couple of days and your decision to avoid Carters Beach over the
Melbourne Cup weekend would seem to be a very wise one, sorry I'm unable to help with altrnative
camp sites.
