as does RAC contrary to popular belief from reading a few PDS from companys im not aware of any (there may well be though) that only limit cover to roads

most provdie cover
- for insurance approved and legal mods
- anywhere in oz you are legally entitled to be
- for any damage not done intentionally or recklossly

which is pretty much all you need

NRMA is the same.

Just read the PDS carefully.

IMHO, Trying to limit to "Roads" is too complicated. What happens on easements used to access multiple driveways, or car parks or what if you park on your front lawn... the list is endless.

Read the PDS. The NRMA one clearly says. "Anywhere in Australia." There is no mention of roads, off road, or otherwise anywhere in the document. Including the road/track having to be on a map.

Forget the NRMA, they are screwing down the repairs big time. Everyone who has insurance with the NRMA all you get is second hand parts and dodgy workmanship. Being talking to some panel beaters lately and these are the preferred repairs!!!!

AAMI does my insurance for me, anywhere in Australia.

And i queried them like the spanish inquisition!!!

Cheers and good hunting.

AAMI have pinged plenty of times for forcing repairers to use second hand & imported parts & panels ..... no thanks!

What’s the concern – I have QBE covering both my town vehicle and the 4WD – there is no difference in the policies. I recently rolled off a rocky outcrop on a remote beach and smashed the side of my 4WD. QBE said it didn’t matter that I was off road. Read your policy – if it doesn’t list off-road activity in its exclusions you are covered.

Hi I would suggest you try Shannons or Just Cars both are good and charge reasonably. They specialise in modified and unusuall vehicles.Had one claim with Just Cars, was off road and put the fan through the radiator done about $3000 worth of damage, put in a claim and they just got the repairer to take some photos of engine mounts etc to make sure there was no mechanical defects.I paid the repairer and they reimbursed me about two weeks after they got the reciepts.

TCIS is the insurance that most State 4WD Associations recommend

TCIS provide 4WD vehicle insurance everywhere

They will also cover Camper trailers and camping equipment and more.
