My map book shows a freeway going a short distance north of
Perth, but I thought I read on our
forum recently that it is now about 100km long.
Can anyone enlighten me about this please?

The freeway goes not too far north but now goes through to Bunbury in the south. When you get to the northern end you can head east a few Klms and get on Wanneroo Rd which then continues into Indian Ocean Drive.

I must contradict you on the freeway goes as far as Bunbury. It does not. The freeway stops at
Pinjarra Road
Ravenswood. The road then becomes a highway (
Forrest Highway) that is all new construction that eventually connects to the existing Bunbury (Old Coast Road) to Bunbury.

Ray is technically correct. It does change to
Forrest Hwy when the speed limit increases to 110.
To me as a country kid anything duel carriageway or more is freeway.
Sorry for the confusion.

Mitchell Freeway (north) terminates at Burns Beach Road. Construction currently underway to extend it to Butler further north.
Kwinana Freeway (south) and John
Forrest Highway is as outlined by others.

There's also a new road, just in from the coast, right through to
Yanchep. Don't know the name but I discovered it on a trip a few months back. It's wide open and as good as a freeway until it gets more built up.

M a r m i o n Avenue, is the correct spelling.
Makes a difference when using navman or Tomtom.
