Hi Guys,
I am wanting to put tie downs in the ute similar to the picture.
Where can I get rails like this and is it safe enough to just screw in? The heaviest load would be my dirtbike. I am concerned that the screws wont hold or
the tub sides could buckle.

G'day Frank
Check out ARB or Blueys ute world - they do bolt on hooks etc in different shapes and sizes. If you are still keen on the rails you will need to go to a metal fabricator and have something custom made - I would suggest fixed at both ends and at least once in the middle with 2 bolts each to fitting points into
the tub. You will need to remove the inner panels of
the tub to bolt rail in properly. this should be more than strong enough to carry bikes provided you don't do thousands of k's on rough corrugated roads !
Cheers
Gazz
Ps make sure you fit or make something solid as KTM's spend most of their time in the back of ute's !!

LOL - we can debate that one on a different
forum but no dramas with my kato.
Regarding the inner panels. TBH i havent removed
the tub liner so dont know whats under there... but are those inner panels easy to remove? So, you dont think I need to put a brace on the inside of the panels for more support?

Frank - the inner panels just unscrew - then you can get your hands inside to do up the nuts / bolts. No need for bracing. Some people just tek screw hooks / brackets / rails to the top 50/60 mm section of
the tub straight through the liner - seems to work if you use the right screws but I used tie down points purchased from above mentioned stores - used longer bolts and left my liner in ! If you want to know why I commented on KTM's reliability check out thread ID 82125 on this site and read the first line of follow up 2 and you will see what I do for a living ! KTM's are great bikes but clocking up thousands of k's in
the desert without hours of maintenance is not what they do best !
Cheers
Gazz

I see - and agree. They do need to be treated with respect... unlike my days on a XR. Even though I serviced it regularly... I knew I could go away for days and not worry about bringing spare oil, coolant etc.
I think i will do what you did.. straight through the liner using longer bolts.
Thanks Gazz.
