Lift? Can longer aftermarket shocks lift my Toyota hilux surf? If so, how does it work and how much will it cost?

Lee,
Shocks will keep the tyres on the ground, springs will keep the vehicle off the ground.
Shocks alone will not raise your vehicle.

no.
only a lift kit will give you the lift you are after, and then you will, require longer shocks to suit.

Cheers for your responses. My mates had me a little confused. I researched lifting my vehicle a little and then one mate told me that just by installing longer shocks I could get the desired result. The reason why I want a lift is to limit the amount of wear to the underside of my vehicle up and around the dunes.
