Hi there, Can anybody tell me who planted all the young sandalwood trees around Sandalwood Rock? I remember reading somewhere that some school group was responsible and would appreciate feedback on their current condition, but can't remember who it was. We visited there a week ago and noted details of the plants condition which I would like to pass on. Cheers, Jackaroo.

Yep, Alan's right. It was in the recent 48th edition of Western 4WDriver. 225 sandalwood trees were planted back in July by a group of students from the Willeton Senior High School Academic Talent Program (bit of a mouthful!). You can email updates to their teacher Darren Hamley at:
darren.hamley@willettonshs.wa.edu.au

Project info and updates is/will be posted to their web site at:

So, what condition did you find the trees in Jackaroo?

Mnay thanks Alan and Melissa, Yeah, the trees are doing great, we counted 218 so must have missed a few. 208 looked extremely healthy and about 10cm. tall, 10 were stunted with some leaves going brown and we found 3 guards with no plants in them. A very pleasant and interesting trip. Cheers, Jackaroo.
