Hi All, I'm looking at buying a couple of those canvas bags that hang off the spare
wheels. Mainly to have somewhere to throw in some firewood and to store rubbish between towns.
There are a few on the market - They need to be tough, strong,
well drained and easy to use - anyone have any preferences/advise?
Cheers

Hi Alex,
I’ve mentioned these a few times in the past. I had been after a heavy duty wheel bag so got Klaus at Infront to make me a couple that I took out and tried to destroy over two years. The end result works
well (although I’m not sure about the name he’s given them!). Extra heavy duty and ample strapping for load. I am always caution about overloading any bag though. I recommend cutting a piece of ply wood to match the dimensions of the bottom of the bag. Make sure you edge the ply with plenty of gaffer tape or similar so it doesn’t rub through. This stops the bag sagging at the bottom and also protects the bottom from rub damage or sharp objects.
Have a look at Klaus’s H/D bags;

Hey Alex,
We have the PVC type Bushranger one. We have been on the road for just over 6 weeks now and it has by far been the best investment, especially through
Cape York! We went days without seeing a rubbish bin and as long as you crush your cans it holds a fair amount of rubbish. Also came in handy when we got soaked out at
Vrilya Point, it held all our wet clothes/towels and rubbish too!
Hope this helps.

I have one of theirs and it is a good tough one.
Great spot for dumping muddy recovery gear.

Hi alex B, I got to use my brand new MSA bag today for the first time. The strap that holds it to the tyre tore away from the fabric within about 2 hrs of use. It was holhing at the time 2 snatch straps only, I will be taking it back tomorrow

Hi Michael & Chris, Thanks for your reply.
Would have been even more annoying if it happened at the start of a big trip!
I'm sure they'll replace it ....but that's not the point.
Thanks for the heads up.
Cheers
