Anyone want some extra cash?? - can I 'test drive your camper / van?'

Hi, I have a young family (9 and 6 year old kids) who are itching to go camping... and in an act of the purest optimism am now trying to introduce my wife to the pleasures of the caravanning / campervanning world.

Decided I would do that by renting a few different alternatives and allowing her to experience the various options on offer.

In trying to rent vans / camper trailers, I am finding there are limited variations available for rent, and / or that the versions there are quite basic units, so they don't allow her to see things like solar / 12v fridges etc in action. As a result, I have to go and buy a whole lot of kit, with the very real risk I'll be selling it again in a hurry.

Would love to hear from anyone who might be interested in renting their van for relatively short trips to a very respectful, professional family. Happy to pay a fair rental, pay a bond to cover any damage, and to comply with any terms of use you may set.

Open to commercial operators or private owners with relatively modern rigs - or anyone who could refer me to someone who may wish to rent.

Based on the Sunshine Coast and don't expect to be going too far in the short term. Have a late model Hilux dual cab as tow vehicle - 2.25t towing capacity.

Initially would love something that we could take on the sand over to the Noosa northshore. Would be very lightly used for a couple of nights, and happy to clean before returning if required.

Am free next weekend, so if someone wasn't using their rig and was looking for a few extra $$ for Christmas, would love to hear from you. Leave me your details and I'm happy to call / email you to discuss specifics.

Thanks folks. Appreciate you considering my request.

Thanks Porl. Really appreciate the lead - their website looks good. Will certainly talk to them about some Jayco options.

Also open to any other options as well - both on and offroad, for a few days and for a bit longer.

Thanks again.

Ok now it drew a response -

We were shocked to find it was a brand spanking new Jayco pop top. I was actually then worried about stone damage and we changed our destination to a caravan park.

We paid a bond and got every bit back. They seem a home business mob but they know their stuff and offer a great service.

We haven't gone back because I wrote off the hilux but the next dual cab will have a bit more grunt and I don't have space to keep a camper trailer of that style so will definitely go back to them if I want to rent one again.

We have 2 x kids 3 and 6 and as it rained a lot on our 4 day trip they LOVED it, twin double beds, kitchen table for 4, I think it was a jayco eagle, lightest of them all, but still kind of huge They spent a lot of time on the beds drawing or we were at the table playing board games as it rained outside. There was a kind of private space for everyone at one time (four of us). In a tent we'd be on the floor getting in each other's way.
