I have a Mitsy Canter 4x4 and am looking for assistance in servicing the free wheeling hubs. I have lost 4WD and am not sure if it is the hubs or axle which has failed.

Hi Des C
I don't want to throw a spanner in the works here so to speak, but I have used quite a few Canters, and frequently find the problem is neither, but a broken surclip in the locking hubs.

Thanks for that Marc - I will check it out. Is the circlip accessable from the inner mounting (the one with the phillips head screws) or do I need to go in via the allen key bolts
Cheers Des

Hi Des C
No seeing it myself I wouyld not assume to know which set up you have. I thiunk once you have a look yourself you will see if the surclip is fractured or not, I would be wrong to assert knowledge as to the structure when I have not seen your specific Canter.
Judging by your response, you have no doubt seen the physical structure, and should have no problem finding anything broken.
Good luck with it.
Cheers
