Hi All,
Can anyone tell me if there are significant differences between campomatic models in the period say 1997-2001, ie wanderer explorer getaway
ranger.
particularly in regard to
suspension and drawbar length & equipment level compared to current models. I am looking to buy a secondhand one and cant get any info.
I think this is the Yatala based manufacture period maybe even 02 or more.
thanks for any info

I have a 1997 Getaway , and it has Independent
Suspension.
Mine had Toyota? split rims and 750x16 tyres. It has 10 inch electric brake drums but no brakes as its tare is 600KG AFAIR.
The Getaway AFAIK was the basic model and has no battery, but does have a 240V input and internal plug, and came with an external 12V plug and internal 12v plug.
Mine came with 2 gas bottle holders, 2 Jerry Holders and no on drawabar storage, on a unit behind a steel stone guard. I guess the drawbar is quite short.
The Kitchen has 2 gas burners and a sink and storage but is quite shallow. It has a fold down tray below. AFAIR, this was the same up to 2002?
Mine came with a full length awning which ends above the Kitchen and has a front wall which goes down on an angle in front of the kitchen but ends above the ground.
Mine has excellent internal flaps behind the side windows which I do not think the 2000 had. No walls which were an option.
There may have been some options as I met a guy with a 2000 Getaway and it had an ALKO
suspension, and no internal flaps as I said.
I love my
Camp'o'matic and will not replace it with anything else.it has been around the circuit a couple of times with virtually no problems. I think the only problem I have ever had was that the turncatches on the kitchen were not quite long enough and over a long time the catches wore down the slots in the floor above and the kitchen came ajar on the
Plenty Highway. Fix was a dab of weld on the catches and no recurrence. Oh and a set of shock rubbers.

For what it is worth, I took delivery of my new
Ranger M3 in the middle of 04, and that was one of the last to come out of Yatala North, before "the troubles".
As I recall, they said all models available then had the Ind.
suspension.
Ours was a great unit - quality throughout - got a good resale $ in the middle of 09 - now in a van.

Thanks so far Darian & Rangiephil thats a good help, the one I am going to look at has brakes so should be above a Getaway.
Its just that I am in Vic and most of the ones for sale are interstate so far.

This one on the Campomatic site is similar to my getaway, but has a solid axle.
The kitchen is the same , as is the interior. The end wall on the awning is not standard.
owner has shifted one gas bottle to make storage as I did, but he has deleted one jerry holder. The PVC pipe is not stock, but the steel gravel deflector is.
The spare tyre position is the same.
The jockey wheel has been changed from a blow up one.
Obviously the whole annex on the RH side is not standard.
