Gday All, Does anyone know if 2" SHS available in Australia. That is 2" or 50.8mm square x 3/16" or 1/4" wall section. All the square receiver hitches still seem to be 2" so the 50mm SHS that is available of the shelf is quite a rattling fit.. Michael

Hi Michael,
You can use standard 50mm box section but you need to go up in the wall thickness.Made many of them myself being a boily just remember not to go to neat with the fit as dirt and mud can jam it up.On some tow bars they use small bolts to stop the rattle seems to work.

Why not order a proper rated one from the USA. I'd be really worried about making one up not knowing just how strong it was.
Here is a link, with the Aussie dollar around parity you would land one in Oz for abt $80.00.

Hi michael
Oops just remembered your talkin about the hitch sorry. Most heavy duty hitches i've used (for the caravan) are made from solid square bar. They are certainly much heavier and sometimes require some grinding of the corners.Still the small 6mm bolts in the receiver seem to stop the rattle.
