I bought one of these little yellow things, with the inbuilt compressor, for about $70 five years ago. It's always been kept charged but rarely used other than pumping up the odd tyre.

Well we get back from two weeks holiday and the battery on the Courier (4.0 V6) is flat. Can't find the jumper pack so go for the jumper leads and try to jump start from the wife's Falcon, no go.

Ring the youngest Son and sure enough he's been around and pinched it because the battery in his Magna is knackered. He's used it five times without charging it, so I hold out little hope of it starting the Courier. Well bugger me, the engine roared to life first twist of the key.

Jim.

I have to agree with that I used to carry one in the truck as my offsider loved to turn the machine off and leave the ignition turned on. next morning I would front up at our first job and find that the machine wouldn't start.

1 trick i did learn was that if I removed it from the truck to charge, the next time I needed it, it would be sitting in the garage on charge.
the easiest way I found to charge them, In your case start the falcon hook up the jump pack leave it for 10 min and Bob's your uncle it's more than likely fully charged. mine was easy I just left it connected to the machine while it was in use the when we were ready to move to the next job the pack would be fully charged and ready for the next time.

Ours came with a lead to keep it charged from the cig lighter socket. Although I do still stick it on the three stage charger from time to time.

John,

I see that your Cruiser is a diesel so I can't guarantee it will work. I have seen the same unit belonging to someone else, and showing only about 50% charge, start a 5.7 L Holden V8.

Cheers,

Jim.
