Hi All
Still working on my boat project, have managed to borrow and small and large set of crimpers. My question is with these joiners, do I insert the cable from both ends to the middle of the sleeve and then crimp either end? Why the slot in the middle?
Thanks

Hi Lyndon,
the slot is there to ensure you do do not bring your cable past the centre and that both ends are pushed to the centre to obtain a good join. You can crimp one end at a time.

Hi lyndon......
Few tips for "marine" wiring....
Use pre tinned wire, sold as "marine" wire, you may already be using it ...
After you crimp each join spray on some stuff called "Soft Seal" made by CRC, comes in a green tin, it will soak into the crimp and wire strands and seal out all saltwater intrusion, even if you heatshrink them spray it on first and shrink it on over it..
If you can solder each one helps and still spray em....
After you have got it all set up spray it all over every exposed electricial joint, spray on terminals, bases of relays, fuse boxes, back of switches .... anything metal....
Awsome stuff and will stop any corrosion from saltwater, be warned it washes off with ANY solvents so if you degrease your motor it will wash off, simply re-spray when dry .......... even coat the motor, mounts, bolts, hose clamps... you will thank yourself when you go to remove anything.
You may have seen some metal products that come with a "waxey" coating on them, the older outboards when new were coated in it, used to coat cars with it when it went on the boats.... that is the same stuff
Cheers (worked of pearl farm boats)

Repco Winnellie "used" to stock it as that is where i got it from, back when "Monty" was there, sorry i dont know where else, i think CBC just up from Repco also had it (St Hwy)
It think Repco St
Park also had it but that was 4 years ago, i now buy it from Repco in Mt Isa....
I think some Marine shops sell it, sorry eh cant be of much more help..
