g'day there, I just bought a waeco which has the normal cigarette type plug, but the fridge slide in my camper has an anderson. Can anyone tell me if there is an adaptor or will i have to change the anderson

With my Waeco, I cut the cigarette lighter plug off and went for an Anderson. A far superior type of plug/socket in my experience.

I have 2 waeco's permanetly set up in the rear and I ditched the cigarette lighter plugs and swapped them for 50 amp anderson plugs years ago and had no trouble since no matter how rough the journey.

I went even further. Cut the cigarette-lighter plug off and wired the Waeco flexible cable directly to the vehicle wiring. Bought a second Waeco cable/plug for use out of the vehicle. Andersons are good but not very elegant.

Like Allan B I've 'fix wired' my fridges in both the car and the camper......albeit they are Evakools.

Have to agree Allan B, Andersons aren't very elegant, however I find them very convenient. I have a 10M length of twin 6mm sq. cable with Andersons on either end. I use it to connect my fold-up solar panel, interconnect van house batteries to tug batteries if necessary and also for the air compressor. Both Waecos are connected in the back of the Patrol via a harness using Andersons, very easy to install and remove as required. I also have an Anderson wired to a pair of alligator clips in case I need to directly connect to a battery for any of the above.

My Waeco came with a Hella type plug with a cigarette plug adaptor fitted over the top. I just removed the adaptor and use the Hella, the latter being a very good positive action plug that fits all the female sockets on the van and 4wd. Given the low amperage of the Waeco, the Hella is more than adequate.
