gq 5 gear

Hi guys , just a quick on, Does the gq have the same problem with 5 gear under tow , as im thinking of get a camper van.Thanks

As far as I know they put the GQ 5th gear in the GU geabox to eliminate the problem they have with 5th. I've towed my camper trailer up
hill and down dale with my GQ, in fifth with no problem, had 260,000 on the clock.Keep the shiny side up

5th gear is an overdrive gear in any gearbox , it is also the smallest / weakest gear in the gearbox any box any car. 4th gear connects the front input drive with the rear output driveshaft and is much stronger for towing. I would only use 5th gear for towing if the road was flat / level and go back to 4th as soon as any load is put on it ,hills ect.

ON EARLY GQ 5 SPEEDS THE MAINSHAFT AND 5TH GEAR SPLINES FAILED EARLY AS
WELL. THEY WERE UPDATED BACK THEN.
