First let me say thanks to everyone on this site - the information I've received from the questions I've asked, or info I have copied and pasted into my notes from other threads has been really valuable. I'm pleased to say that we're just 10 days out of
Adelaide into a year long trip and loving the
Darling River Run just now.
I need to have some mail forwarded to us already, however I would like to ask the question about mail etiquette. When travelling, do you normally contact the
post office you will have some mail directed to before you get it sent there to give them a heads up that something is on it's way or there's no need to do that? If you do contact them, do you need to have the envelope/package addressed in any special way to show that the recipient is travelling?
Thanks again, your assistance is always appreciated.

Unless things have changed, No need to contact the PO the mail is being sent to, just address the mail:
HOLD FOR
Mr. i'machocoholic
c/-
Post Office
"name of town"
State & Post code.
Mail is normaly held for 14 days then returned to sender.
regards

Correcting my error Mail is held for 28 days before being returned to sender.
Had a problem at
Karratha where it was returned early and Postmaster assured me it was always kept for 28 days but they read the wrong month and sent it back.
Was a big kerfuffle as it was important Govt Tribunal Documents.

Thankyou for your response Graham, success today as I picked the parcel up no problems at the
post office.
Glad I know they'll keep it for 28 days before returning it.
