Hi guy's just about to install a Goss fuel pump in me V6 Pajero got any tips things to be aware off. (old one died)
So far looking at the wiring the power to the pump just plugs in to the terminals on the pump which is sitting at the bottom of the fuel
tank.
This seems wrong to me as shorly if the conections were to get wet they would short or cause a spark and then blow me car up with me kids in side What gives.
All the
water pumps on me boat have sealed wiring and are totally
water proof.
Cheers.

Okay
well petrol does not conduct electricity in fact it's a great insulator just as
well I guess.
But started wondering what happens when E10 and
water get mixed in with the fuel.
Well 50/50
water and petrol and some salt thrown in for good measure and run the current from 0 volts to 270 volts in a beaker and all you get is a lot of boiling and smoke.
Theres a youtube petrol conductivity test there for my peace of mind.
Cheers

Hi roughasguts, Make sure you replace any pre pump filter in the
tank. Yes it is amazing the motor is not sealed but actually runs in fuel. Ive cut afew apart to see why they failed, old ones the comutator had worn sections which made them very noisy, then they eventually wont start. Others not so old Jamed/siezed found very smal particles in pump rollers (this due to pre pump filter having a hole in it. Daryl

Thanks Daryl, the pump came with the pre strainer thankfully.
But that reminds me should change the in line petrol filter as
well.

gooday roughasguts.
I had the same problem with my petrol efi GQ , after the 2nd one failed
I decided not gunna pull the
tank out again so I put a commodore external pump
on the chassis and run the 2 of them together . cheaper and take only 20 mins to change it should the need arise . had the vehicle since almost new .and it has never stared so
well since the 2nd pump was fitted .

Thanks mechpete put the new pump in! changed the filter! bloody new car even smokes the old duelers around a corner. (shrashed the crap got the
grey smoke coming out all good)
Gonna change the plugs now as there old as I can remember but Bloody hell she's a new hot rod compared to what she was.
Can't wait to tow with her with the Windor Rapid that use to sort her out.
She sure is running smooth.
Pump 120 bucks filter 19 all worth it for the extra power, and a bit of work.
Cheers
