Hi. Although I have not actually stayed in the
park my brother lived in
Dampier for 38 years and I have visited a few times. The
park is down near the
water and as you say is a transit
park only. I think there is a maximum of three nights stay and if you look
here you may be able to find out a bit more. Brother is at
Ningaloo at present so I can't ask him. Regards,Bob

We have stayed there a couple times while travelling through.
It is a basic
park but as it is heaps cheaper that the alternatives we saw no need for more than basics.
Showers are good, though smallish 'donga' style, same with laundry.
Staff are friendly and as Bob said maximum 3 night stay, hence Transit
Park.
The
Karratha parks get the long term Miining 'big bucks' and expect the same from tourists too....stuff them I reckon.
Cheers Neil

I stayed there 3 nights last year.
facilities were clean and
water was across the road.
However there is a maintenance depot next door with
bright security lights , and an iron ore loader about 3-400 metres away.
When a train is unloading at the tippler, you can hear the noise all night.
Nor much happening in
Dampier and the shops are in
Karratha. There is a pub but relatively expensive for food.
On balance we found it suitable for a transit stay.
